EXAM
Thank you for registering to be a member of the LBOA. Your next critical step is to prepare to write the National Exam. It is an open book exam, but it is also time-restrictive. You have a defined amount of time to provide all answers. All candidates are encouraged to have a firm understanding of both the FIBA Rulebook, as well as the FIBA Official Interpretations prior to attempting the exam.
All Junior Members (usually our high school students - or 1st/2nd year of basketball experience) of the LBOA are not required to write the National Exam, but certainly can if they choose to. All Senior LBOA members at the "Prospect" level of the NOCP must achieve at least a 50% minimum standard on the exam to be eligible to officiate with us. The NOCP and Provincial Associations for both Alberta and Saskatchewan have much more stringent standards for Level One and Level Two, as well as Provincial Championship assignments. You can find further explanation of these standards under the "NOCP Status" tab of this website.

The exam is completed online through Canada Basketball. The exam is open until December 16th, 2019. No extensions.

You are not required to pay to write the exam. The LBOA will take care of this for you through your membership dues. Please see the "2019 FIBA Exam Instructions" link below to access the COUPON CODE to write the exam.
The first step in registering for the exam is to create a "Game Plan" Account. See instructions below:

Next up! Get yourself ready to write the exam. Open the Rules and Interpretations in separate browser windows and attempt the practice exam. It is worth your time to do this! In previous years, some official exam questions are taken directly from the practice exam. You'll also learn the 'style' of questions you can expect on the official exam.

At this point, you are probably ready to give the exam a shot. See the instructions below. Good luck!
